"To build successful companies, access to business support is equally important as access to capital"
Marcel Spaas, BEHOLD Netherlands
We aim to fight poverty with profit by stimulating business with an economic return and a huge social impact in society. SME?s are the backbone of emerging economies with their high impact of job creation and setting the example and paving the path for adjacent (business) development. We also strongly believe in the upcoming power of social entrepreneurs, they directly target social and sustainable challenges in a creative, determined and hands on matter. Supporting these two with access to finance as well as business support truly is the new way for international development cooperation.
Our expertise
Being social entrepreneurs ourselves we know how to run social business successfully. We gained over ten years of experience in the fields of Social Venture Capital and igniting SME development. Marcel Spaas was one of the pioneers who developed the successful webbased international business plan competition and (investors) network of Business In Development (www.bidnetwork.org). Marcel was also responsible for launching the satellites and business plan competitions in Africa and therewith build up a lot of expertise and networks in the continent. Jop Blom also joined the start up of a social venture capital fund in the Netherlands (www.sovec.nl) in 2004.
Our network
The development of SMEs and Social Venture Capital was greatly supported by organizations and investment funds like BiD Network, MYC4, FMO, Ashoka, Acumen and many local and private investment parties active in Africa. By working together with these organizations we have the access to the finest examples of (social) entrepreneurship and matching them with available capital and business support.
We are always keen to support your organization with either sourcing of excellent investment opportunities as well as supporting (social) entrepreneurs to grow their organizations. We also invite social entrepreneurs to bring in their ideas under the BEHOLD social entrepreneurship umbrella and catalyze their growth.
