Marcel Spaas (1966) holds a Msc in Watershed management at the Agriculture University of Wageningen with a special focus on tropical forest management. After his studies he moved to Surinam and Ghana working as production manager in the commercial timber industry.
After 6 years he returned to the Netherlands motivated to move businesses to responsible behavior. At the end of 2002 he was one of the pioneers who launched the Fairfood Foundation, a lobby and campaign organization about â??the right to foodâ?? to the Dutch Government and corporate sector (www.fairfood.orgwww.fairfood.org). From 2005 he was responsible for the development and implementation of the concept of BiD Challenge - an worldwide online business plan competition. He was also responsible for the implementation and coordination of partnerships and setting up local satellite organizations for BiD Network in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda (www.bidnetwork.org).
